Day 5 – Stuttgart Predictions

Halep d. Vandeweghe in two sets – Halep crushed Vandeweghe 6-1 6-1 in their previous encounter in Madrid. Vandeweghe has been playing well in Stuttgart so far, but Halep’s defense should be too strong on clay.

Svitolina d. Garcia in three sets Preview

Kontaveit d. Pavlyuchenkova in three sets – Both have similar games but I feel Kontaveit is the more dynamic player on this surface.

Pliskova d. Ostapenko in three sets Preview

Day 4 – Stuttgart Predictions

Ostapenko d. Diyas in three sets – Hmm. This could be a tough first rounder for Ostapenko with Diyas’ quick speed around the court, but the Latvian has performed very well of late in Miami & Fed Cup. Still, she’s prone to erratic performances and a quick turnaround after Fed Cup might be a little trick for her. I’m going with Jelena in three though.

Siegemund d. Vandeweghe in two sets – I’m surprised Vandeweghe leads the head to head 3-0, but Siegemund is a completely different player on clay. I think Siegemund’s tricky play and quick speed could cause a ton of problems for the American.

Svitolina d. Vondrousova in three sets – Upset alert considering this is Svitolina’s first match on the red clay this year (and first match in Stuttgart ever) while Vondrousova already has had four matches to adapt to the conditions. While Vondrousova should be high on confidence after her win over Goerges, I think it will take a lot for her to outlast Svitolina in long rallies after a long week in Stuttgart.

Kerber d. Kontaveit in two sets – Even though Kontaveit won their previous encounter in a 6-4 6-0 scoreline, I think this is a good match-up for Kerber who can redirect pace and exploit Kontaveit’s lack of consistency and one-dimensional game.

Muguruza d. Pavlyuchenkova in three sets – Muguruza’s on a seven-match winning streak but she only needed to beat one top 50 player in that streak. I’m not convinced by Muguruza this year but Pavlyuchenkova has been even worse, only managing three main draw wins this year so far. Muguruza leads the head to head 3-0, and is definitely more comfortable on clay as well.

Pliskova d. Kudermetova in two sets – I watched a little of Kudermetova yesterday and she was impressive, but I won’t think she has the mental strength to outlast Pliskova.

Garcia d. Kostyuk in three sets – Confidence boosting wins over Sharapova and Lottner would have given Garcia and Kostyuk respectively a boost of confidence. I think Kostyuk can cause a lot of problems but Garcia’s experience will help her come out unscathed.

Day 3 – Stuttgart Predictions

Keys d. Pavlyuchenkova in two sets – Pavlyuchenkova has lost her last seven of ten matches and is really low in confidence right now. Clay isn’t her surface either and I think she’ll struggle to adapt to the Stuttgart conditions. While you can say the same for Keys, she’s been improving each year on the clay.

Stephens d. Vandeweghe in two sets – Vandeweghe leads the head to head 3-1, but I’m going with Stephens’ versatility on this surface.

Mladenovic d. Kontaveit in three sets – I’m not sure about this… both players are pretty low in confidence right now and both have had many erratic performances in their past few matches. I’m going for Mladenovic since she has the weapons to upset Kontaveit’s rhythm.

Kvitova d. Kerber in three sets Preview

Halep d. Rybarikova in two sets – This could be a little tricky but I’m going for Halep who has won their previous two match-ups.

Suarez Navarro d. Kudermetova in two sets – Carla for the win!

Witthoeft d. Diyas in three sets – A tough one to predict… Diyas leads the head to head 2-but I haven’t seen her much on the clay.

Day 2 – Stuttgart Predictions

Kostyuk d. Lottner in two sets – I suspect Kostyuk’s three matches from qualifying will help her adapt to the conditions better, but Lottner’s hard-hitting could be a difficult one for Kostyuk. Not sure…

Bertens d. Pliskova in three sets – Preview

Sharapova d. Garcia in three sets Preview

Goerges d. Vondrousova in two sets – I was looking forward to Goerges-Sevastova, but Goerges-Vondrousova seems like a fun match-up as well. Vondrousova’s serve has been very shaky of late and I think it’ll be a huge problem against a great returner in Goerges.

Siegemund d. Strycova in two sets Preview

Day 1 – Stuttgart Predictions

Kasatkina d. Rybarikova in two sets – There’s only one main draw match on day 1 of Stuttgart and this match-up sounds like fun. Both players are super talented in constructing points and breaking the rhythm of their opponents. I’m favouring Kasatkina in this one due to her love for the clay.
