Daily Predictions

Final (1/1)

Kontaveit d. Vikhlyantseva in three – Kontaveit is into her second final of 2017 while Vikhlyantsveva is still relatively inexperienced on this level. Giving the edge to Kontaveit but between two big hitters, it could go either way!

Semifinals (1/2)

Konjuh d. Vikhlyantseva in three – Both have big games that are wonderful to watch on grass; at the latter stages of tournaments I’ll expect Vikhlyantseva to feel some nerves. Konjuh is experienced at this level and should come through.

Kontaveit d. Tsurenko in two – Feel that Kontaveit could blow Tsurenko off the court with her power.

Quarterfinals (3/4)

Konjuh d. Rodina in two – Konjuh has been playing well on the grass so far, expecting her power to get past Rodina who is in her first WTA quarterfinal since this tournament last year.

Vikhlyantseva d. Rus in three – Both players have been playing at a high level this week but I’ll expect Vikhlyantseva’s big game to overpower Rus.

Kontaveit d. Witthoeft in two – Witthoeft can be tricky but Kontaveit has been impressive with two three-set wins this week.

Mladenovic d. Tsurenko in two – The only all seeded match-up, Mladenovic is at a higher level than she was earlier this year in her final loss to Tsurenko in Acapulco. Mladenovic should be able to overpower her, especially on grass.

Round 2 (7/8)

Lottner d. Rodina in three – Watched bits and pieces of Lottner’s win against Cibulkova, she has a big game and huge serve but as big hitters usually are, they can be patchy at times. Rodina had a surprising demolition win over Kato but I feel more confident with Lottner.

Konjuh d. Hogenkamp in twoI don’t think Hogenkamp has the weapons to beat Konjuh on grass, especially when the latter’s on-song.

Vikhylantseva d. Petkovic in twoPetkovic finally got her first WTA main draw win after enduring a six-match losing streak. I like Vikhylantseva on grass and I think she will continue her run.

Rus d. Hlavackova in threeFor Rus, this is her first WTA main draw win since 2013! Hlavackova’s last main draw win came last year, in Nottingham. This is a complete toss up for me as these two have not played main draws in a long while; I’ll go with the home favourite for this one.

Kontaveit d. Flipkens in threeKontaveit might find the Flipkens slice a little tricky on grass, as did Brengle (Flipkens 1R opponent), but I think she’ll get through in a tight tussle.

Witthoeft d. Giorgi in threeAs usual, it depends whether Giorgi can get the ball into play but Witthoeft scored a great win over Vandeweghe and I have more confidence with her.

Tsurenko d. Krejsova in twoNever heard of Krejsova until her win against Jankovic. Tsurenko should win.

Mladenovic d. Sasnovich in twoI would expect this to be a tight two setter as Sasnovich has the weapons on grass.

Round 1 (8/14)

*missed the matches with some qualifiers because I’m abroad, sorry!*

Cibulkova d. Lottner in twoAnticipating no problems for Cibulkova against the qualifier.

Kato d. Rodina in threeNo idea but Kato has already played two matches from qualifying, she should be more adapted to the grass already.

Hogenkamp d. Minella in three – Minella is coming off a semifinal appearance in Bol but she has never been good on the grass. Expecting home favourite Hogenkamp to pull through.

Konjuh d. Korpatsch in twoKonjuh has been throwing in wild performances at times but she should have no problems for this.

Bertens d. Petkovic in two – Petkovic is in need of confidence and her draw certainly won’t let her! Her favourite surface isn’t grass so I’ll not expect the German to do too much damage to Bertens.

Vikhylantseva d. Lister in threeFeeling Vikhylantseva’s game translates well to he grass but Lister is coming from qualifying.

Babos d. Rus in two – Babos for the win (?)

Kontaveit d. Kr.Pliskova in three – It’s a tough draw for Kr.Pliskova after she managed to snag a seed after a few tournament withdrawals. I think Kontaveit’s big game is suited to the grass courts and she could score an upset here.

Flipkens d. Brengle in three – Apparently Brengle’s favourite surface is grass. I felt that it would be easier to break down Brengle on this surface but I’m not so sure after finding out that fact!

Giorgi d. Lepchenko in two – Feel confident of Giorgi’s chances to make a deep run here, it’s just whether she can make the court more often than not!

Vandeweghe d. Witthoeft in three – Witthoeft is decent on grass and Vandeweghe has just went through a change of coach, although the American always plays well in ‘s-Hertogenbosch I’m not very sure she can pull it off!

Mertens d. Tsurenko in three – Feeling the upset as Tsurenko’s doesn’t play too well on grass and ‘s-Hertogenbosch is where Mertens broke through last year, reaching the quarterfinals.

Sasnovich d. Kalinskaya in two – Never seen Sasnovich on grass and have only seen Kalinskaya in one match before, not sure about this match.

Mladenovic d. Ozaki in two – Mladenovic is decent on the grass too and she’ll probably be able to hit through Ozaki who plays more defensively.
