Svitolina d. Mertens in two – Svitolina needs to be more aggressive against the counter punching Mertens. Considering three sets for this but Svitolina should probably win.
Svitolina d. Cepelova in two – Svitolina seems to be heading for a record third WTA title in 2017.
Mertens d. Begu in three – Originally picked Begu to win the title but her level has not been convincing. Mertens will be a tough test for Begu, plus considering that Begu has already played three three-set matches this week, going for the upset.
Svitolina d. Cirstea in two – Svitolina mentioned she was under the weather in her first round win over Kamenskaya and looked settled in her victory over Cadantu. Should win over Cirstea, who actually has had a day of rest in Istanbul.
Yastremska d. Cepelova in two – No idea for this, had watched a little of Yastremska this week so maybe her to meet countrywoman Svitolina in the semifinals?
Begu d. Eraydin in two – Begu got pulled to three sets in the previous matches that I expected her to win it straights. It should likely come against qualifier Eraydin though.
Buyukakcay d. Mertens in three – Going for Buyukakcay who will be buoyed on by the Turkish crowd.
Round 2 (5/8)
Svitolina d. Cadantu in two – Can’t believe Svitolina lost a bagel set to World No.210 Kamenskaya yesterday. Svitolina looked really unsharp yesterday but should be better against Cadantu.
Cirstea d. Sakkari in three – Instinct with Cirstea but it could go either way.
Sorribes Tormo d. Cepelova in three – Both had great first round wins yesterday, I think Sorribes Tormo will edge this on the dirt.
Yastremska d. Kalinskaya in three – Have totally no idea for this lol.
Eraydin d. Asku in three – Between two hometown players, going for Eraydin who had the win over seeded Tsvetana Pironkova in the previous round.
Begu d. Flipkens in two – Flipkens can be tricky but Begu on the clay is tough to break down.
Errani d. Mertens in three – Most interesting second rounder. Both players are unable to blow each other off the court, going for Errani who is the better one on clay?
Babos d. Buyukakcay in three – Congrats to Buyukakcay who got her first win of 2017! Still, I think Babos will oust the defending champion.
Round 1 (11/15)
Svitolina d. Kamenskaya in two – Svitolina for the win.
Hibino d. Candantu in three – Coming from qualies, Candantu has played a couple of matches already so expecting this to go to the distance.
Kovinic d. Sakkari in three – Kovinic won their last meeting at last year’s Istanbul Cup 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. I think something like that would happen again.
Cirstea d. Ferro in two – Cirstea should win.
Cepelova d. Bouchard in three – Cepelova’s always creating upsets so I’ll go for another one here.
Sorribes Tormo d. Soylu in two – Sorribes Tormo’s handy on the clay. Should win in two tight sets.
Kalinskaya d. Chang in three – Going for lucky loser Kalinskaya who should have been adapted to the surface.
Petkovic d. Yastremska in two – Petkovic should win.
Pironkova d. Eraydin in two – Pironkova for the win.
Asku d. Kulichkova in two – Don’t know much about both, going for the home player Asku.
Flipkens d. Kucova in three – Best first rounder among all of them. Think Flipkens could just edge this.
Begu d. Maria in two – At least one tight set in there.
Mertens d. Kozlova in two – High on Mertens after her Fed Cup endeavours.
Errani d. Hsieh in two – Errani did well in Bogota and Fed Cup, hopefully she can gain some points here!
Buyukakcay d. Zanevska in two – Hometown favourite Buyukakcay aiming for her first win (!) of 2017.
Babos d. Perrin in two – Babos for the win.
